How to Get Involved with a Mastermind Group

mastermind groupAs an entrepreneur or a blog owner (or a blog-owning entrepreneur), it can help to bounce ideas off others, and get a little insight and help from like-minded individuals.

If you want to boost your chances of success, a mastermind group can be a big help. But how do you get involved in a mastermind group?

Identify What You Want to Accomplish

Your first step is to look at your own goals. What do you want to accomplish? How do you think a mastermind group will help? Who inspires you?

Figure out where you want to go with your venture or your blog, and use that as a starting point. In what areas are you weak? How can you shore those up? How do you think a mastermind group will help you? Finally, consider that you also need to have something to offer. What are your strengths, and how can your strengths help others with their own projects?

Reach Out to Those You Want to Learn From

This part is perhaps the hardest part of getting involved in a mastermind group. If you know of an existing mastermind group, you can ask to be involved. If there is someone that you want to learn from, you can reach out and ask for help, or ask if he or she wants to be involved with a mastermind group.

Reaching out can be difficult, since you don't know whether or not you will be rejected. Plus, asking for help can be hard to do. We don't like to admit that we need to learn from others. However, if you want to get involved with a mastermind group, you need to reach out.

Follow those you want to learn from on Twitter, or connect with them on LinkedIn. Contribute to online conversations, and perhaps even meet these people offline through conferences and networking events. Get to know others a little bit before you ask to join or form a mastermind group.

But do reach out. You might be surprised at how many people are willing to help. Even “big names” are often willing to help you out and spend time working with you as part of a mastermind group.

Be Available

You need to be available as well. Try to be approachable and willing to share what you know. When you show that you are willing to help out, and when you put yourself out there, others will be interested in inviting you to join a mastermind group. Show that you are social in your niche, as well as a prove yourself a good community member, and you might not have to reach out to others to join a mastermind group.

However, if you want to get involved with a mastermind group, you don't want to wait around for someone to invite you; if you want to make it happen, you need to decide to go for it. You will be more likely to succeed, and you will be able to create a group that works for you.
